Crowns

Dental crowns, also called Caps, are bonded over the natural tooth. Protecting a tooth that has weakened from a root canal or tooth decay, covering imperfections like cracks or staining, or using a crown as part of a dental bridge are just three of the many reasons to get a crown.

Getting dental crowns is a simple process that takes about 2-3 weeks to complete. A temporary crown may also be offered while the permanent crown is being fabricated. Preparing the tooth must first be done, which involves filing it down to make room for the crown. A local anesthetic is offered so that the patient does not experience discomfort during this phase. After this is done, our dentist Dr. Amit Pandya gets impressions of the tooth to be sent to a lab for creating the crown.
In about two weeks, patients return to our New Hyde Park, NY dental office to have the crown bonded to their tooth. The crown matches their other teeth in color, shape and size, so they are not made obvious.

With good oral care, crowns can last about 10-15 years. Call us at 516-233-2135 to schedule an appointment to have your crowns fitted.
