Bonding

Accidents happen and it is unfortunately common to chip your tooth.  Whether you slip and fall or you chip your tooth against a coffee mug, this cosmetic damage can leave you feeling self-conscious.  Luckily, chipped teeth are simple and easy to fix.  Bonding is an affordable, beautiful solution offered at our practice for moderately damaged teeth.

Dental bonding makes it possible to correct structural issues that affect individual teeth.  This includes chips, cracks, fracture and even gaps created by teeth that are too narrow or short.  This cosmetic solution blends in naturally with your smile for a realistic look.  If you are ready to fix your damaged tooth and restore the aesthetic beauty of your smile, contact our practice and learn about how bonding services can help.

Clear Braces

Here at our dental practice in New Hyde Park, NY, we provide a lot of orthodontic and cosmetic procedures in order for our patients to feel more confident in their smile. One of the options we like to provide is clear braces. They are just as effective as traditional braces, but are less obvious to others. Since many of our patients are children or teens, they often are embarrassed about wearing braces. The same can be said for adult patients who never got corrective orthodontics as teens, and now want straighter teeth. That's why children, teens, and adults love clear braces.

The clear braces still have metal wires separating them, but the brackets are made of ceramic, thus practically translucent. They are made to be the shade of the patient’s natural teeth, so they are barely noticeable.

The process of getting clear braces is much the same as with traditional metal braces, including getting the wires tightened regularly, and wearing them around 2-4 years. Our patients appreciate the benefit of having braces to correct their teeth and bite problems, without having metallic metal braces.

Contact Dr. Amit Pandya at 516-233-2135 for a consultation to get clear braces.

Veneers

Many of our patients visit our Hillside Ave, New Hyde Park, NY practice to improve their smile, which includes getting dental veneers. Veneers are made of thin pieces of ceramic, which are made to match the shade of their other teeth. They can cover a wide range of imperfections of their teeth, such as staining and discoloration, gaps between the teeth, oddly shaped teeth, or many other problems.

The process for getting dental veneers takes about 2-3 visits in our office and are finished in approximately three weeks. Here is a breakdown of the procedure:

1. Patients first visit us for a consultation where we take x-rays of their teeth. At this appointment, they also choose what types and shapes of veneers they want.
2. Next, Dr. Amit Pandya prepares the teeth as some of them need to be filed down to make room for the veneers. Impressions are taken after the teeth are ready and temporary veneers can be worn until the permanent ones are ready.
3. In about two weeks, patients return to our office where we bond the permanent veneer to the patient’s teeth. After the bonding dries, the veneer is polished and the process is complete.

Make an appointment with Dr. Amit Pandya in New Hyde Park, NY for your new veneers. Be sure to visit our Smile Gallery, where you can see before and after veneers photos!

Lumineers

Lumineers

Lumineers are not just porcelain veneers; they are a special brand of veneers. Lumineers are made of extremely thin material — about the thickness of a contact lens — and placed over the tooth without requiring the removal of any of the original tooth structure. They are also highly translucent, which allows them to replicate the appearance of enamel for a more natural looking finished product. The truly remarkable quality about Lumineers, though, is the fact that they have the durability to last 20 years or more.

Here in our New Hyde Park, NY dental office, we believe in minimizing pain whenever possible. The fact that Lumineers installed by our dentist Amit Pandya DDS require so little preparation to the existing tooth means there is little pain involved in the procedure.

Lumineers require two dental visits:

1) During the first visit, we create a precise mold and work with you to select the desired whiteness level.

2) We install the new Lumineers on the second visit, a process that takes about an hour, and you're on your way.

You can eat the foods you love, drink the drinks you prefer, and your Lumineers will hold up admirably. Call 516-233-2135 to schedule your Lumineers consultation with Amit Pandya, DDS today.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars you receive in life. Most of the time, they arrive in the later teen years or during your early twenties. Many people discover that their arrival spells only problems for the state of their dental health and require removal. Here at Amit Pandya, DDS, there are three common reasons we recommend wisdom tooth extractions:

Partial eruptions of impacted teeth happen when part of the tooth has broken through the gum, and it creates a situation that's primed for oral infections. In most cases, patients will experience light facial swelling and bleeding for a couple of days after the extraction or longer. Use a combination of cold compresses and pain medication (sometimes we will prescribe pain medications, but that is not always the case) to combat pain and swelling afterwards. Keep moist gauze or moistened tea bags on the socket to help manage bleeding and avoid blog clots.

Call 516-233-2135 to schedule your consultation with Amit Pandya today here in New Hyde Park, NY so you can learn all about wisdom teeth extraction or removal.

Adult Orthodontics and Periodontitis

Adult Orthodontics and Periodontitis

Your smile alignment plays an important role in your oral health, systemic health, and self-esteem.  Crooked teeth can be more difficult to care for and patients tend to be at a greater risk of developing periodontal diseases like periodontitis.   These serious oral health problems can damage your tooth structure and gums, sometimes resulting in tooth loss.  Adult orthodontics is a great way to prevent periodontal disease, while also improving your smile confidence.

We offer traditional braces, clear braces, and Invisalign options for adult patients at our practice.  Traditional and clear braces are excellent ways to correct bite and alignment issues.  Patients that only need to correct mild to moderate alignment issues can opt for Invisalign.  This discreet alignment option is hardly noticeable against your natural smile.  To determine the best adult orthodontic option for your smile needs, I invite you to visit our practice for a consultation.

Painless Root Canals

Painless Root Canals

It is important that any patients experiencing tooth pain visit our office to determine if a root canal is necessary.  Tooth infections can cause pain and sensitivity when they reach the nerves of your tooth.  If left untreated, infections can result in costly complications, including bone damage.

Some individuals may put off their root canal because they are nervous about the procedure.  However, we are happy to assure all of our patients that modern root canals are actually painless.  Local anesthetic is used to numb the tooth at the start of the procedure.  Then, the infected tissues are removed and the tooth is cleaned and fitted with a crown.  With the use of precise dental techniques and state-of-the-art dental technologies, the entire root canal process is painless for our patients.

If you are in need of a root canal, rely on our practice to provide you with precise care and a painless experience.

Sleep Apnea Dental Appliances

Sleep Apnea Dental Appliances

Sleep apnea is a frustrating condition for many sufferers.  In addition to nightly snoring, sleep apnea can also increase your risk of developing other serious health problems.  High blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stroke, daily fatigue, drowsiness, and liver problems can all develop or worsen as a result of sleep apnea.

Fortunately, there are ways to treat sleep apnea at our practice.  While CPAP is commonly used as an effective sleep apnea treatment, many find the device to be uncomfortable.  We offer custom dental appliances as an alternative treatment, preventing respiratory obstruction and ensuring oxygen flow throughout the night.  Many of our patients have found dental appliances to be a more comfortable and convenient sleep apnea treatment.

If you or someone you know may be suffering from sleep apnea, contact our New Hyde Park practice for more information on how to protect your health.

The Importance of Regular Checkups

Even you have stellar oral hygiene habits and you haven’t noticed any problems with your teeth or gums, there are very good reasons to schedule regular dental checkups, including:

  • Professional dental exams are mean to identify problems that can be easily missed, ignored or haven’t yet become serious but could. These include minor issues like cavities and plaque. Even serious issues like periodontal disease, infection, and early signs of oral cancer can go unnoticed without professional care.

  • Regular exams and in-office dental cleanings address hardened plaque and tartar that can’t be removed through regular brushing and flossing. Professional cleanings also assess areas of the mouth that are tough to access on your own, even with the most cutting-edge household oral hygiene products.

  • Regular exams are just one part of your individual practices that keep your smile healthy—just as being a responsible car owner requires the occasional trip to the mechanic.  A professional dental exam is also one part of keeping your smile looking great! Dental Implants

If you’re considering dental implants for your smile restoration, you’re making a smart choice. As a tooth prosthetic, dental implants provide a unique set of benefits over other smile restoratives.  While bridges, partial and full dentures are all reliable options for smile restoration, dental implants deliver a real look, feel and longevity that remain unrivaled.

If you’re weighing the advantages of dental implants over other tooth prosthetics, consider the following:

  • If you are an adult, your age alone won’t restrict you from dental implants.  From teens to seniors, dental implants have been successfully used to replace a missing tooth or teeth.

  • They can be used in both your top and bottom jaw, at multiple sites and can even be used to restore your entire smile.

  • Other healthy teeth do not need to be modified or disturbed for your implant placement.  There’s no need for wires, external framework, adhesives or support that affect neighboring tooth.

  • Dental implants look and feel totally natural.  They will not affect your speech, eating and appearance.

  • With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime and do not require replacement or adjustment.

  • Dental implants require no additional maintenance beyond brushing, flossing and regular periodontal care.

  • Because of their placement that’s similar to the natural root of the tooth, dental implants reducing bone loss and prevent atrophy of the jawbone.

While these advantages sound ideal for just about anyone in need of a tooth prosthetic, the very best way to determine if dental implants will be the most successful option for your smile restoration is to arrange a consultation with us at our New Hyde Park dental facility.
